On September 3rd 2007 Buffalo will host the first annual “Run Into Buffalo” 15k road race. The proceeds from the race will benefit the Buffalo Public Schools Track Programs. We want to put Buffalo on the road racing map and we need your company’s help. We are looking to develop partnerships with organizations in WNY that realize the value of assisting our children with their athletic endeavors. Our vision is to introduce the students of the Buffalo Public Schools to the benefits that running can bring to their lives.
We are currently offering sponsorship at the following levels:
We recently made an initial donation of almost $10,000, worth of track spikes to the Buffalo Public Schools. We were honored to be able to help so many children who are already involved in running, but ultimately we want to help every child who has a desire to participate in our great sport. The benefits of participation in scholastic sports are well documented. Not only does it lead to a healthier lifestyle, it also keeps the children more focused on staying in school and builds their desire to continue their education after High School.
This event will be extensively marketed throughout the region, not only through the printed application, but also using our website (www.runintobuffalo.com) and through our monthly radio advertising campaign of WJYE. We will also be using the network of Fleet Feet stores nationwide to promote our event.
In cities across the country there are major road races that attract runners from all over, bringing in thousands of visitors, spending tens of thousands of dollars. That is what we want to create here, in Buffalo. In 2005, major road races were held in cities like:
If these cities can put on events that can attract those numbers of runners, what’s stopping Buffalo? We think that we know the answer, forward thinking visionary people who have a passion for running and for Buffalo.
We want to put Buffalo on the national map as a great city, not only for running but also as a great place live and to visit. We want to expose people to all that we have to offer, the great people who make up our city, the amazing architecture, the Olmsted parks system. We are planning our course to run along Millionaires’ Row on Delaware Ave., to start and finish in front of City Hall, and to be spectator and runner friendly.
In order for us to succeed on the national level we need companies that are willing to make a financial commitment to our event. We would like to be able to offer a substantial amount of prize money. This money would allow us to attract some of the biggest names in running. We would also use a portion of the prize funds to encourage neighbor and corporate groups to come out and support the event, offering rewards for the most support from a community organization and the most support from a corporation.
